CUNY Site
Licenses | Procedure for Home Use of Software
All site-licensed
software is for on-campus use by faculty, staff and registered
students.
Home use
of software is made in accordance with the license agreement and
is only applicable for Adobe CLP, Mathematica, and SAS with
some restrictions.
ADOBE
CLP - The same home use rights that are part of the
Adobe End-User License Agreement for Education (included with
each software product) apply.
You, as
the primary user of the computer on which the Software is installed,
may also install the Software on one of your home computers.
However, the Software may not be used on your home computer
at the same time the Software on the primary computer is used…"
A form
MUST be completed BEFORE software is duplicated for home use.
The required form is available on the Web (see downloadable
form selections under the CUNY Site Licenses) or from the
Campus PC Site License Coordinator. Campus Site License Coordinators
will maintain ALL FORMS.
MATHEMATICA
- Specific procedures have been established for faculty-owned
computers, and student-owned computers. These procedures must
be adhered to.
Obtaining
a Copy of Mathematica
Students -
- Read
and agree to the terms of the Mathematica
Site License. Print out the license agreement and sign it.
This must be given to your Campus Site License Coordinator when
you request a CD and a license number.
- See your
Campus Site License Coordinator for a CD and a license number
- Obtain
a Password: In order to install Mathematica on your computer,
you will need to obtain a password. You will need to provide
the following information to Wolfram when you request a password:
License
Number - the license number for your specific college
provided by your PC Site License Coordinator
Identification - name, email address, phone number, college
(i.e.: CUNY Hunter College)
MathID number and Machine Name - the MathID number will be
automatically generated when you launch the Mathematica installer.
This number is required in order to generate a password that
will be unique to your computer. The machine name is your
name (i.e.: Jane).
Request
the Password - complete and submit the Mathematica Password
Request at http://register.wolfram.com/.
This form must be fully completed for your password to be
properly processed. If you omit information from this form,
you will not be able to receive your password.
Receiving
your password - you will receive your password from your
Campus Site License Coordinator via email. This password will
allow you to fully install and run Mathematica on the computer
for which it was requested. If Mathematica is installed on
many computers (i.e.: home computer and laptop), each computer
will need its own MathID and password. The password will expire
each year on June 30th. You will automatically have a grace
period of 14 days to allow time to receive your password.
Faculty
-
Fill out the following home-use request form:
http://www.wolfram.com/solutions/highered/homeuse.cgi.
Within this form, you have the choice of being sent a CD or downloading
the software to your home computer. Each home-use license will
ave its own unique license number. Once the installation has begun,
the faculty member will then need to go to the web (http://register.wolfram.com)
to register the software license and request a password. Wolfram
will email the password directly to the faculty member, using
the email address that was provided when registering the software.
The password will expire each year on August 31st. Upgrades are
free and each faculty member needs to request a copy from Wolfram
directly. No shipping charges will be incurred.
SAS
- is licensed for home use by CUNY faculty, staff, and registered
students. A form MUST be completed BEFORE software is duplicated
for home use. The required form is available on the Web (see downloadable
form selections under the CUNY Site Licenses) or from the
Campus PC Site License Coordinator. Campus Site License Coordinators
will maintain ALL FORMS.
SAS is very concerned about software piracy. SAS
Software is passcode protected. Appropriate information is available
annually from your Campus PC Site License Coordinator.
When requesting
software from your campus PC Site License Coordinator, remember
to specify the product, the product version, and the platform
that you desire.
