POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES


The Department of Hospitality Management at New York City College of Technology, CUNY, seeks an assistant professor with a history of significant food and beverage industry management experience. In addition to teaching, this position offers an opportunity to develop curriculum and programs in a dynamic and highly regarded department with strong links to industry. The Department of Hospitality Management is recognized internationally as the premier hospitality management program of the City University of New York. The department is accredited by ACPHA and offers both associate and bachelor’s degrees.

NYC College of Technology, located in downtown Brooklyn, is one of the senior colleges of the City University of New York. A diverse student population of 13,000 commuters attends day, evening, and weekend classes. More information about the college is on the website: www.citytech.cuny.edu

The Assistant Professor will:

    § Teach courses in the food and beverage segment of the Hospitality Management curriculum, including, but not limited to: introduction to food and beverage management, food and beverage cost control, dining room operations, service management, wine and beverage management, menu planning and design, restaurant management, facilities planning and design, hospitality accounting and finance.

    § Engage in program development, recruitment, and student advisement. Committee participation is expected, as well as other department, college, university and/or community projects.

    § Participate in continued professional growth and scholarly contributions to the field.

Day, evening, and weekend curriculum and department duties may be required.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS



    § Master’s degree, PhD preferred.

    § Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years post-master’s employment in their chosen field. The position includes focus on the management of food and beverage enterprises. For this reason, those with specific and significant food and beverage industry management experience will be most desirable.

    § Higher Education teaching experience preferred.
