POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES




Medgar Evers College, founded in 1969, was established to meet the educational and social needs of the community. Medgar Evers College, a publicly supported urban commuter college serving both traditional and non-traditional students, is located in the heart of Brooklyn. An Academic Dean reporting directly to the Senior Vice President and Provost for Academic Affairs, the Dean of the School of Business of Medgar Evers College is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the School of Business, including academic planning and program development. The Dean serves as the chief academic and fiscal officer for all programs within the School and is responsible for providing academic and strategic leadership as well as direction and policy formulation for the departments of Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Economics and Finance, and Public Administration. The School of Business is nationally credited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS




Candidates for this position must possess an earned doctoral degree or an equivalent degree in one of the disciplines represented in the School of Business curricula and eight (8) years of related experience. The successful candidate will be expected to lead the School in the areas of teaching, professional service, curriculum development and research/scholarship; have administrative experience at or above the department chair level; possess academic credentials sufficient to qualify for senior professional appointment; and demonstrate an ability to build consensus among faculty within the School and facilitate communication both within the School and across administrative levels within the institution.
