POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES




The Associate University Provost plays a key role in CUNY's central Office of Academic Affairs (OAA). This office oversees the academic activities of all 23 of CUNY's campuses, which together serve over one-half million students and many thousands of faculty. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Associate University Provost has broad responsibilities covering a wide variety of academic and administrative matters. Such matters can include undergraduate and graduate programs, scholarship and creative activity, and specialized institutes and centers, as well as faculty personnel issues. The Associate University Provost will provide oversight and leadership for all of these activities as assigned, ensuring that they are linked to University goals and performance indicators. Works closely with administrators at the central office as well as on the campuses, and also works closely with faculty. Supervises the University Deans for Undergraduate Education, Teacher Education, and Health and Human Services, and supervises many CUNY-wide Institutes, OAA's Director of Communications, and CUNY's program review office, plus other individuals and offices as assigned.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS




A doctoral or other terminal degree and at least eight years of related experience working in higher education are required. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of current issues in higher education, and outstanding communication, team-building, and organizational skills.
