POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

The primary responsibilities of this position are to:

• Teach graduate courses in education research;

• Help students design and test curriculum materials and assessments in their own classrooms;

• Help students conceptualize and design empirical research in teaching and learning;

• Engage in scholarly research and publication;

• Serve on doctoral committees at CUNY’s Graduate Center when needed;

• Advise graduate candidates in education;

• Participate in curriculum revision/development;

• Assist in efforts to recruit and retain secondary education students;

• Actively participate in meetings of appropriate professional organizations;

• Contribute to papers, conference presentations and research reports.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have an earned doctorate or be within one semester of completing doctorate by the job start date, and must have an emphasis in education research;

Applicants should have:

• Ability to work with a diverse professional community;

• Potential for research and grant writing;

• Familiarity with standards based curriculum and performance based teacher education assessments; and

• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Requirements:

• Training in psychometric assessments (highly desirable);

• Doctorate degree in education, learning science or related discipline with strong research component;

• Experience in working with diverse students in urban secondary schools; and

• Proficient in using advanced research methods.
