POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
	The Department of Chemistry at Lehman College-CUNY is searching for a new Chair. The department invites applications for a tenured position at the Associate or Full Professor level beginning September 1, 2010. The anticipated hire is open in emphasis and the appointment will be made at a rank that is commensurate with appointee's experience. The successful candidate will fully participate in the life of the Department, College and University including serving on appropriate committees and participating in the Graduate Center.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
	A Ph.D. in chemistry or closely related field is required. The successful candidate must exhibit a strong record of publication in peer-reviewed journals, grant support and have experience in academic administration, be currently a tenured (or equivalent) member of an appropriate (chemistry/biochemistry, etc) faculty and is expected to demonstrate strong leadership for excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level, provide research leadership to the department, and experience in developing and managing interdisciplinary academic and research programs, as well as maintaining his/her own research program.
