POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

The primary responsibilities of this position are to:

• Teach graduate courses in the Special Education MSED programs;
• Mentor and advise students in the program;
• Collaborate across departments and foster school/college partnerships;
• Engage in research and scholarly writing;
• Assist with NCATE accreditation reviews and program development;
• Seek external funding for research and program improvements;
• Participate in college, division and department service; and
• Participate in student recruitment, application and admissions processes.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Special Education or related field such as Educational Psychology or School Psychology or related field or be within one semester of completing doctorate by the job start date.

Applicants should have:

• College and/or public school teaching experience in urban settings with diverse populations of children, knowledge of state-of the-science technology and pedagogy;

• Current and promising research and publication agenda; and

• Eligibility to teach in the NYC schools is required.

Preferred Requirements:

• Bi-lingual in Spanish/English desired.

• Familiarity with bi-lingual assessment and intervention strategies for children with special needs desired.
