CUNYfirst is Growing!

CUNYfirst added new applications to go with it's current live systems: General Ledger, Human Capital Management (HCM-Human Resources), Talent Acquistion Management (Recruiting), Line-Item Budgeting and the Course Catalog for Queens College and Queensborough Community College.

On November 16, 2009, the CUNYfirst System added new HR functionality for recording salary changes on an employee's record on a mass scale, working with outside vendors (Monster.com, etc.) who publicize our job openings, and the daily transaction report which gives a full listing of all HR transactions per day.

CUNYfirst also launched course catalogs for the rest of our colleges, which will support the new Faculty Workload functions. The Graduate Center, Hostos CC, Medgar Evers College, Queens College and Queensborough CC all went live today. The rest of the CUNY colleges will work in the new FWL system starting December 1.

MEC

(From L-R) Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer Brian Cohen, Medgar Evers College Faculty Workload Coordinators Femi Ojumo, Assistant Provost Dr. Claudia Schrader, CUNYfirst Project Director Suman Taneja, and Dean for Institutional Research and Assessment David Crook. Mr. Ojumo and Dr. Schrader were demonstrating the various screens and information used to calculate faculty workload to Project Leaders and colleagues from Medgar Evers.

CUNYfirst stands for Fully Integrated Resources and Services Tool and for CUNY it means a massive upgrade in how we'll do things in the future. New CUNYfirst processes in Student Administration, Human Resources and Finance will change how we do everything from registering for classes to paying our bills. CUNYfirst applications will replace aging legacy systems like SIMS and CUPS and help us streamline and standardize many of the things we do at our colleges. CUNYfirst will be implemented in phases. Base processes for business, HR and academic structure will be created first, with enhancements and new modules being added in the coming years. Everyone working for CUNY will be trained to use the new tools available in CUNYfirst with training available in classes or on-line. The CUNYfirst Project is planned through 2012 and is intended to establish CUNY policies, processes and procedures well into the future.
